Dr. Stephen Mack was appointed to the Board in November 2016 to fill a board member’s resignation. He was elected to a full term on the Board in 2017. Dr. Mack was voted in as Board Secretary by his fellow board members in 2017, and BOE Vice President in 2019. Dr. Mack was re-elected to serve in 2021 and again voted in as Board Vice President. Dr. Mack was voted in as Board President in 2023, and re-elected to the Board in 2025. Dr. Mack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and International Studies from Northwestern University, a Master of Arts degree in French from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Doctor of Education degree specializing in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, and Curriculum Design from Argosy University. Dr. Mack is the Instructor of French for Wauconda High School. Dr. Mack and his family have lived in Grayslake for 19 years. He has a graduate of Park Campus, a child at Grayslake Central High School, and a child attending Grayslake Middle School.

Kristy Braden was appointed to the Board in June of 2018, filling the vacancy left when another member resigned. Ms. Braden was elected to a full four-year term in 2019 and voted in as BOE Secretary by her fellow board members. Ms. Braden was again elected for a four-year term in 2023 and voted in as BOE Vice-President by her fellow board members.

Tamika Nash was appointed to the Board of Education in November 2019 to fill a board member’s resignation. Mrs. Nash was elected to finish out the final two years of the 4-year term in 2021. In 2023, Mrs. Nash was re-elected for a four-year term and also voted in as Secretary by her fellow board members. Mrs. Nash holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Risk Management & Insurance and Real Estate from Temple University, a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix and has earned a certificate in Supplier Relationship Management from the International Association of Commercial and Contract Management. She is a Supplier Management Consultant for Allstate Insurance Company and a servant leader involved in various Lake County 501c3 organizations dedicated to youth development and empowerment. Mrs. Nash relocated to Grayslake in 2014 from Philadelphia, PA, with her husband Warren and two children who attend CCSD 46 schools; one at Grayslake Middle School and one at Frederick School.

Hillary Halverson

Hillary Halverson was elected to the Board of Education in 2025. She enjoys selfless service and hopes to both act as a liaison between the community & schools and to reinforce the progress of the district. She has served on two Lake County 501c3 boards in numerous roles including secretary and various chairs. She also founded and runs a writers’ group designed to support local writers. She is a former Woodland Middle School art teacher and a prize-winning author. Mrs. Halverson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from the University of Illinois, with one semester from the Marchutz School of Arts in Aix-en-Provence, France, and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier University. She and her husband have two children who are currently students at GMS and GCHS. When she’s not writing or volunteering, she can be found on the pickleball court.

Maureen Heun

Maureen Heun was elected to the Board of Education in 2025. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Millikin University, a Master of Arts in Professional Writing from Illinois State University, and a Master of Education in Secondary English Education from DePaul University. Ms. Heun was a tenured English teacher for 12 years at Stevenson High School, and taught part-time at College of Lake County before accepting positions with the State of Illinois. Ms. Heun is a certified instructor in Mental Health First Aid with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. She and her husband live in Round Lake and have three children, all of whom were educated through CCSD 46.

Kristy Miller was elected to the Board of Education in April 2019. Mrs. Miller was re-elected for a four-year term in 2023. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Science in Communication Education from Miami University (Ohio) and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University, Mrs. Miller has earned certificates in Appreciative Inquiry and Social Impact Strategy from Champlain College and the University of Pennsylvania respectively. Mrs. Miller holds a LEED Green Associate Credential (2022) and is a USGBC Green Classroom Professional (2022). She is also an avid outdoorswoman and has paddled and camped in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern Minnesota since 1978. She and her husband are the proud parents of three children.

Jim Weidman

Jim Weidman was elected to the Board in 2013 and was elected Board Vice President by his fellow members in 2013 and 2015. Mr. Weidman was re-elected to the Board in 2017 and again voted in as Vice-President. In 2019, Mr. Weidman was elected Board President. Mr. Weidman was re-elected to the Board in 2021 and again voted in as President of the Board. Mr. Weidman was re-elected to the Board in 2025. Mr. Weidman, a 50-year resident of Grayslake, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and the College of Lake County. He is a Battalion Chief with the Grayslake Fire Department, and also serves as the Emergency Manager for the fire department. Mr. Weidman is also a Field Staff Instructor at the Illinois Fire Service Institute teaching hazardous materials courses. Mr. Weidman’s three children attended Woodview School, Frederick School, Grayslake Middle School, and Grayslake Central High School.
