Dear Parents,
Hello and welcome to a new school year!
As our returning families know, last school year began with some significant difficulties regarding bus transportation. I am glad to tell you that we expect this fall to begin much more smoothly. That stated, you may be aware that there is still a national bus driver shortage. Durham School Services, the provider of our student transportation, is no exception. Until they are able to get fully staffed, Durham has worked with our school district to consolidate two bus routes at GMS. It is possible that this could result in some longer rides on those two routes. As well, Durham does not yet have a full cadre of substitute drivers to put in place in the event that a driver is absent. This, too, could affect routes across the district. If a bus is running late we will notify parents as soon as possible.
Parents can log into Infinite Campus Portal today to see the assigned routes for their child. We also will be piloting a bus tracker app this year, to be available in January, 2023.
CCSD 46 is committed to strong communications so that parents/guardians can make transportation decisions that are best for their families. We are excited and looking forward to the new school year for our students!

Estimados padres,
¡Hola y bienvenidos a un nuevo año escolar!
Como algunos de ustedes saben, el año escolar pasado comenzó con algunas dificultades con respecto al transporte en autobús. Me complace decirles que esperamos que este año comience mucho mejor. Dicho esto, es posible que sepa que todavía hay una escasez nacional de conductores de autobuses. Durham School Services, el proveedor de nuestro transporte estudiantil, no es una excepción. Hasta que puedan contar con todo el personal, Durham ha trabajado con nuestro distrito escolar para consolidar dos rutas de autobuses en Grayslake Middle School (GMS). Es posible que esto pueda resultar en algunos viajes más largos en esas dos rutas. Además, Durham aún no tiene un cuadro completo de choferes para poner en marcha en caso de que un chofer esté ausente. Esto también podría afectar las rutas a través del distrito. Si un autobús llega tarde, notificaremos a los padres lo antes posible.
Los padres pueden revisar sus datos en Infinite Campus Portal hoy para ver las rutas asignadas para sus hijos/as. También probaremos una aplicación de seguimiento de autobuses este año, que estará disponible en enero de 2023.
